Nutritional Support for the Disaster Area


We wish to express our condolences to those affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 11, 2011. The Ajinomoto Group prays for the earliest recovery of the affected region and pledges full support for assistance and revitalization.

The Ajinomoto Group (Ajinomoto) has decided to implement the additional measures because many victims of the disaster still have no choice but to live in uncomfortable shelters, and in some cases have a nutritionally unbalanced diet. The detail of measures as follows:

Support to correct nutritional imbalances among evacuees in the region affected by the disaster (for 3 years)
1. Ajinomoto will create a framework of cooperation that matches local needs by assigning an employee as the local support manager in the region to promote attentive support as the direct contact for local governments, NPOs/NGOs, dietetic associations and other organizations (from July).
2. Information on healthy, nutritionally balanced diets will be provided to the evacuees.
Working with local dietetic associations to provide menus & recipes and conduct health & nutrition seminars
3. Product assortments will be offered to help people cook as they return to their normal daily lives.
Initially, 14,000 sets for people in temporary housing in Iwate Prefecture, one of the disaster areas in Northeast Japan. A total of 60,000 sets planned.
4. Participation of employee volunteers to support recovery in the disaster area
Employees will prepare meals locally, and will also help at Ajinomoto’s factories to prepare the product assortments Ajinomoto will distribute.
